Bone Idol is a buzzing grooming parlour and pet shop in the heart of the busy St James’s Street area of Brighton. We are stylish but definitely not pretentious and provide a level of service and products that you simply can’t get anywhere else. At all times we want dog in our care to be healthy, happy and fabulous. Our human customers must experience the very best in service.

Skills:

• A love of and interest in dogs and a desire to learn
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – professional but fun with a good sense of humour

• The ability to calm and control nervous dogs
• NVQ level 3 preferred

Responsibilities:

• Meet and greet clients and spend 5-10 mins talking to them about the groom they want, allergies, health issues and any advisories from owners
• Bath and shampoo dogs. Pick correct products for each dog given advice, breed and coat.
• Clipping: clipping dogs to owner or breed association specified cuts. Making sure blades used are changed and not getting hot, used blades are sterilised.
• All equipment must be sterilised between use. This includes scissors, brushes, combs and blades. All equipment, tables and surfaces should be wiped between dogs.
• End of groom: each groomer should exit with the dog and 'handover' to the owner. This should include a debrief of the cut, any issues and positive feedback on the dogs behaviour, advise and recommend retail products that may be of interest to the owner.
• Ensuring standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met
• Responding to customer questions, complaints and comments, transacting sales
• Keeping the salon tidy and clean as part of a team – including washing and drying towels
• Each groomer is expected to look through their appointments for that day and prepare accordingly.

We have recently launched the Bone Idol Academy in Hove for formal qualifications, training, and workshops. Bone Idol also has an online retail business selling select, high quality products and healthy dog food.

Salary: £14,500.00-£17,500.00 per year
